originality and interactivity

Asian students are sometime considered to be less "creative". Teaching in Asia has convinced me that students here are as inventive and inquisitive as those in the Europe and North America. Their works, however, lack a sense of authenticity. Because they have grown up in artificial, urban environments with relatively short histories, they are prone to appropriate symbols at surface level. What I have developed is a remedial creative process that forces students to study the tactile experiences buried in their everyday environments. Their observations are subsequently transformed into interactive games, using tools and exercises I have created.
